Emma: casual fiction gaming

The Flemish public service broadcaster VRT has launched a series called Emma (Dutch page). A classic whodunnit, which makes you wonder why I mention it. Well, appearantly they are trying to deploy an online experience to support the serie, which includes games, blogs by the fictional characters and fake intranets. In the press release we can read how they have set up what they call casual fiction gaming. So, they are not using the classic name of ARG, which they did at first. The VRT says they have developed a “cloud” of 30 websites that should help you in finding the murderer of Emma’s father and states that you’d probably find out who did it earlier on the net then in the series itself.

A lot of the sites were developed by students of “mixed media” at the KHM.
